Do I need both ventilation and a dehumidifier?
Possibly, but they do different jobs. Ventilation exchanges air; a dehumidifier removes moisture. The proposal explains why either belongs in your home.
What does an HRV or ERV do?
Both bring in outdoor air and exhaust indoor air while recovering energy. Selection depends on your home, climate and moisture needs.
Should every home have a humidifier in winter?
No. Measure humidity and review the building and existing equipment first. Any humidification needs a maintenance plan and settings that avoid condensation on cold windows or walls.
