Better air begins
with understanding your home.

A clean-looking home can still have an air problem.

Some indoor pollutants can irritate your eyes, nose and throat or worsen asthma symptoms. Risks vary by pollutant, exposure and individual sensitivity.

Something feel off?

You know your home.
Notice what’s changed.

Dust, pollen and pet dander. A stale upstairs room. Dry winter air or moisture on the windows. What you notice helps shape the next step.

Unexplained symptoms deserve attention, too. Reviewing indoor conditions can complement medical care—not replace it.

What the research tells us

Clean-looking isn’t the same as clean air.

Pollutants and allergens can be present without a visible mess. Here’s the evidence—and the context behind it.

2–5×

Some pollutants are more concentrated indoors.

EPA reports that concentrations of some indoor pollutants are often two to five times typical outdoor levels.

EPA cites TEAM research from the 1980s on common organic pollutants. This is not a multiplier for all particles or overall air quality; concentrations vary by pollutant and home.

>90%

Multiple allergens in bedroom dust.

In a national NIH study, more than 90% of participants had at least three detectable allergens in their bedroom dust. About 73% had at least one at an elevated level.

NHANES 2005–2006 sampling; published online in 2017 and in print in 2018. This measured settled dust, not airborne concentrations. “Elevated” meant statistical cutoffs, not health-based safety limits.

Daily life

Ordinary activities can add pollutants.

Cooking, burning candles, pets and some cleaning activities can add or stir up particles. Some products and furnishings release gases.

These sources can exist in well-kept, nonsmoking homes. The amount, source and ventilation matter—not just how clean the room looks.

A reason to investigate—not a diagnosis of your home. These findings do not establish that every home has unsafe air or that indoor conditions explain an illness. AirMap screens selected conditions; it does not identify every pollutant or individual allergen. The findings guide the next step, which may include source control, ventilation or filtration—not necessarily new equipment.

More about Happy Homes
Do you work on homes or commercial buildings?

Happy Homes is for homeowners. Our services focus on residential duct systems, living spaces, household filtration, ventilation and the home’s exterior air boundary.

Where do I start?

Start with AirMap: a 90-minute visit, seven days of screening in one main living area and a written plan. It is $695, credited in full toward an installed package accepted within 30 days after your proposal is delivered.

Can you help with allergens, stuffiness or dry winter air?

We can investigate the home conditions behind those concerns. Allergen reduction, outdoor-air ventilation and humidity management involve different work; your findings determine the proposal. No package guarantees symptom relief.

What if I have an unexplained illness or feel unwell at home?

Speak with a healthcare professional about unexplained or persistent symptoms. AirMap can complement that care by reviewing selected home conditions; it cannot diagnose an illness or establish its cause.
